Radio Free Dixie: Robert F Williams & the Roots of Black power by Timothy B. Tyson is a true story of a different perspective besides Martin Luther King jr or Malcolm X. It shows the life of Robert F. Williams a very influential black activist, and racism in all of its honesty. This showed that the “civil rights movement” and the “Black power movement” emerged from the same problems. They were fighting for the same goal too for African American freedom. He had experienced racism even though he was half white, and experienced it.
Lewis is my Man of Courage because he was a fearless and intelligent African-American. He was intelligent enough to graduate from Harvard Law School (one of the best law schools in the country), even though he was an African-American. He was intelligent and fearless, when he bought the TLC Group (a capital investment firm), and then sold it for $65 million 3 years later. He wasn’t scared when he acquired Beatrice International Foods, and making the company the largest African-American owned and managed business in the U.S. Lewis was also a caring and compassionate man. In 1987, Lewis established The Reginald F. Lewis Foundation, which funded grants of approximately $10 million to various non-profit programs and organizations.
The civil rights leaders used the “trickster hero” tactics by using the silence to be powerful. They used their silence to make it peaceful and they gainsay to fighting back because of their reputaion. In the parts of selma when they protested like for example bloody sunday it was always a silent protest. Even though the police were violent and injustice with them they never fought back, because they knew if they did it would show how the whites thought about them which was racial as thought of a bondage.

You asked me to define "The American" and whether or not founding fathers like Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Payne, and Thomas Jefferson were the pioneers of the idea. The first major problem with this question is that Thomas Payne definitely wasn't American, after all, he was kicked out post-revolution for subversive ideas such as "Women Rights", "Banning Slavery", and "Atheism". The other hero here, Benjamin Franklin, was well aged by the countries actual founding. In fact he was eighty-three while attending as a delegate for the constitutional convention.
Jesse “J.C” Owens, the son of a sharecropper and grandson of a slave, is a renowned and popular historical figure. He is treated with awe for his physical accomplishments as a record-breaking Olympic champion, but he is also recognized for overcoming the humiliating and abusive treatment he encountered while working towards this goal. Owens was born on September 12, 1913 in Alabama, as the tenth and final child of Mary and Henry Owens. When he was young, Owens suffered from a severe lung disease, pneumonia (Israel 5), however he still managed to swim and fish, and develop a love for running (Israel 6). Pat Tillman risked his life for his country and died protecting it like a hero. A hero is someone who stands up for themself and puts his/her life at risk inorder to protect others. A hero is radicall different from a fake hero. "Heroes" who play for the audience and cameras don't care about others, but only care about themselves and their public image. They are distinguished by the rewards they receive rather than the sacrifices they make.
Martin Luther King Jr. a bunch. He loved following in his footsteps. King was one huge inspiration for Jesse, for many reasons. There were a couple more factors that were also inspirations. While in school, Jesse was involved in local civil rights demonstrations.
According to Jesse Jackson, "When [he] took the field, something within us reminded us of our birthright to be free. And somebody without reminded us that it could be attained. There was strength and pride and power when the big rock hit the water, and concentric circles came forth and ripples of new possibility spread throughout the nation” (qtd. in “Jackie Robinson,” Notable). Jackie Robinson, a man among legends, spread hope and inspired the nation for change that had not been considered before him.
Heroes come in all shapes and sizes. There Are many examples of heroes in our everyday lives, but there are many heroes in sports. They aren’t heroes because they save someone’s life or rescue someone. They impact people’s lives in positive ways. They're great inside and outside of sports.
The definition of hero is a person, typically a man, who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities. (a war hero) I see Andrew Jackson as a hero because he shows all the traits of a hero determined, brave, and caring. Jackson is a war hero who served his country and stood up for what he believed in even when people didn't agree with him. When he did something, he was passionate about it and took it seriously.
There are many political activists in American History that made substantial contributions to nation. Activists in the 1900’s took on many different roles in their communities and had a huge impact on changes made in the country. The freedom most Americans take for granted today are a result of the struggles many faced years ago. Many of the activists during the period after WWII contributed greatly to history by representing both violent and nonviolent methods to employ new views on freedom and civil rights that America has adopted. Robert F. Williams was an African American activist in the 1900’s who advocated freedom and civil rights for Negroes in the South and across the country.
He is a man that is for the community and viewed himself about a part of the community rather than apart from it. That is someone that I aspire to be like. To give back. Also throughout my research I found that Umzae Hosea Williams did a lot of work with Dr. Martin Luther King Junior during the civil rights
