Dissociative Identity disorder or DID for short is an disorder in which the patient has a split personality between multiple personas. These Personas act different from one another throughout their life and help them a plethora of problems like stress or trauma. In such cases like the great football player Herschel Walker he had multiple personas to help him deal with life including one for football, earlier trauma, school, and social confrontations. Even though someone can have multiple personas and it may seem like they overlap, in fact only one is prevalent at a time while the others wait for when they are needed. Herschel Walker as a kid was bullied because of his weight and race. Oftentimes he would not even go to recess to play on the playground with the other kids. All of his earlier experiences had manifested into separate personas he created in his head to deal with those problems. This work by Herschel using each one specifically for each task. It may seem like multiple versions of himself but they are indeed separate. To further deepen one 's understanding imagine a waiting room mentally created in Hershel 's head and each time something needs to be done one of them is called and they step in to handle it. Let 's say multiple things were happening at the same time that day to Herschel that required three of his personas help. Well it may seem like all three were present but at those times it 's just one switching with the other. This switching enabled him to play a football game, talk on a talk show, or even care for his wife and family. This switching was very evident once when Hershel was on a show and seemed to always talk or refer to himself in the third person. Offset he may have even been a completely different
