1. A. Hester Prynne is a very bold and daring person. She is one that accepts her sin and doesn’t let it necessarily take over her life. She has a very wild, desperate and defiant soul and has a flightingness of her temper and her actions she is some times very capable at keeping in her emotions. She is one that tends to disobey society, she dresses pearl up on a scarlet dress with gold designs to show that she is also the scarlet letter. B. Arthur Dimmesdale is very ashamed of his sin that he committed but he does not want the people to know that he committed adultery but then on the other hand he is very jealous of Hester that she doesn’t have to bear the guilt and that everyone knows of his sin. He starts to feel so guilty that it’s eating him from the inside out. He also punishes himself in many different ways. One is by that he hangs up all over his house images of David and Bathsheba which reminds him of his sin. Also he punishes himself by beating himself. Both Arthur and Hester want God to judge them instead of man. C. Roger Chillingworth is a very evil man. man. This conflict is an external problem. The main issue is that Chillingworth tortures Dimmesdale because he suspects that Dimmesdale was the one that committed the sin along side of Hester. When the people think that Dimmesdale is sick it’s because he is just so righteous but it’s mainly because of the fact that his secret is being tortured and pulled out of him, by Roger Chillingworth. Also another problem of man vs. Man is Pearl and Hester. Pearl is always there constantly bugging Hester about the scarlet letter. She is always questioning Hester on things which make her mad.
