H.G. Wells once said, “Human history becomes more and more a race between education and catastrophe.” Wells was incorrect on this statement because humans are constantly evolving and due to the fact that the world is a mix of many cultures. Also, our current world has access to advanced technology are the most knowledgeable humans to date, but war still occurs. Others believe that education does help, but H.G. Wells gives examples in his book opposing this, as well. Based on H.G. Wells’ The War of the Worlds and the 1940 radio broadcast, war does not decrease when education increases, the two do not correlate. Also, our world is mixed with different cultures and ethics. Today, there is access to books and references to these groups of people. However, groups still feud with others. Also, people are constantly changing. New groups of people, countries, etc. form over time, so even having previous knowledge about war, humans will not be aware about new groups of people that form and their customs. Having all this information, people have all of the education that we need, just from our technology. Also, schools around the world educate many people every day. Furthermore, humans are constantly discovering new things about the world. However, having this knowledge does not prevent war, in some ways it increases it. War has existed for many centuries now, but with increased knowledge, nations have had the ability to create war-based weaponry, such as nuclear weapons. In Wells’ book, Martians use weapons such as black smoke and heat rays to fight against the humans.
