The High Cost of Living Being poor has become a hot topic in the United States lately. Many poor people in the lower class are struggling financially and are barely surviving. Negative outcomes have affected poor people such as the fact that healthier food cost more than the junk food, cheap cars cost more to repair and uninsured health care is expensive. Although some people think that being poor seems simple, poor people do not have enough money to buy many items. People with low incomes have a higher cost of living due to the high costs of healthy foods, car repair for cheap cars, and health care. Poor people are forced to buy cheap vehicles in order to go on with their daily lives. These cheap vehicles break down more easily than newer vehicles. For people who live pay check to pay check, it is harder because of all the monthly bills. Therefore, poor are not able to afford the costs of fixing their cheap vehicle 's. This does not include car maintenance such as changing the vehicle 's oil every three months and getting tires every once in a while. By buying cheap cars, poor people will end up paying more money to repair their vehicles. Finally, Poor people have a higher cost of living because health care is expensive. Poor people have many problems when it comes to health care and insurance because, being in the lower class most poor people cannot afford to pay the money to insurance companies. Additionally, an emergency visit would cost more since being in the lower class, poor people would have to pay more money because of not having health insurance.
