INTRODUCTION
In the future will high-max prisons uphold ethical standards and will the way they treat inmates affect how well inmates transition back into society Prisons, are questioned for their morality when treating prisoners. With self-isolation that some high max prisons have as a punishment for the inmates. Which people view as justified because many inmates are not mentally well. But self-isolation can break inmates' psych, making them more prone to their mental illness declining even more. When Prisons transition for the better in the future and how high max prisons need to accommodate inmates so they will be ready to go back into society. This caused different types of effects on these inmates, and people began to question this type of punishment and whether was it effective and morally correct to treat inmates this way. High-security prisons still use isolation as punishment when inmates get into trouble, and the effects caused by that may lead inmates' psych down the drain. It can cause negative effects in the future on the inmates on their psychological and physical conditions. The negative effects that self-isolation causes: are self-harm, and many inmates are out of self-isolation are caused to self-harm which affects both their mental and physical state in the future(Leonard, 2020). This can affect the future of inmates if they go back into society because self-harm is addicting which may cause them to still carry the effects of self-isolation back into society. This does not mean, it is not effective even though they can carry the effects of self-isolation into society in the future but that could also be beneficial. So Inmates will remember the effects of self-isolation and will not want to relive that if they go back to prison. (Vera Institute of Justice, 2021). It concludes that although solitary confinement can be used as a punishment for violent behavior it can also be to keep that inmate safe from self-harm thoughts and also keep other inmates safe. When inmates are having self-harm thoughts confining them may be the best choice. To not let the inmates be a harm to themselves and other inmates. Which will help them have a better future and have a chance to rehabilitate back into society. This also goes for keeping other inmates safe for one prisoner and when used as a punishment it might work to have undesirable behavior not take place again.
