Independence is a term referred to someone who prefers to be by him or herself in order to excel in something. Many people prefer to work alone on a school group project because they think they would work faster alone. Independence is a choice and it should not be forced upon anyone no matter the situation. Students have many different mental developments while they are in middle school and high school. What would happen if a student is too scared to work with other people? We should not put too much emphasis on self-reliance or independence because independence is a choice, people are sometimes scared to interact with other people, interacting with other people might not progress the activity for the better.

Many people do not realize that more people equals faster work time for the certain project to be done. Although, talking to others can distract you from work while if you are alone and isolated you can finish it in a matter of time. There are many distractions with other pupils because they will offer you food, chat, and soon phones could be in their hands and the task at hand is forgotten. Men and women are always prone to distraction with other people but if they choose to be independent they should. Independence will help a lot of people excel in their activities.

Working with other people and working alone should not be forced upon you.
