While high school sports offer students a place to develop passions and an outlet for leadership and competitiveness, the high school sports system has many problems. However, one of these problems stand out the most, in my opinion. The biggest problem in high school sports is the unfair allocation of resources. Many sports, such as volleyball, face prejudices as far as resources goes. Secondary sports, such as soccer, basketball, and cheer, are often forced to share gyms and equipment, which takes away from practice time and hinders an athlete's focus. The coaches have to plan practices and workouts around the availability of the court or field and the equipment. The unfair allocation of resources hinders the ability of players and coaches to perform to the best of their abilities. An example of the uneven allocation of shared times is a daily occurrence at my school. For example, baseball players are often using the soccer fields for practice, cheerleaders are often using the entire gym floor- prohibiting sports like volleyball and girls basketball to practice. This results in some sports being prioritized above others, and an unbalanced distribution of practice time. On top of the unfair use of fields and courts, workout equipment is also unevenly shared. At my school, there are too many athletes attempting to work out at the same time. This becomes an issue when two totally different sports, such as tennis and football, are trying
