These four years of high school have and will continue to influence and grow me, not only as a student-athlete but as a young adult. During my four years involved in high school volleyball, I was taught leadership skills, discipline, and commitment. Commitment is meant to be strenuous, sacrificial, yet rewarding. I was told throughout my life that anything worth doing is worth doing well. I have kept that saying in my mind as a reminder to work hard for everything because, in the end, it will be worth it. My parents, teachers, and coaches, mainly my father, taught me how important it is to work hard and have that commitment in everything I do. In my prior volleyball season, I and my teammate led the team to win the CVC and Sectionals Championships, which had not been accomplished for eight years. Throughout the season, I devoted my time and energy to bettering myself through disciplined practices and workouts. My years in volleyball led me to become the leader that I am today. As one of the captains, I had to set that leadership example and work with my teammates. My coaches always informed us that what we wanted to accomplish was going to be hard to reach, but we needed that commitment and trust in each other. During my seasons, my coaches always made it a priority to focus on not only my sport but also my education. Recognizing the devotion to not only my sports career but also my educational career allowed me to realize that high school sports are not just about sports but also what they teach you. Upon that realization, it dawned on me that everything I did for that sport not only created a better athlete but a better person. Working with the athletic department taught me hospitality with greeting teams and organizational skills in working at different athletic events. My responsibilities and lessons will continue to enhance my future. I will forever be grateful for that
