High Schooler Sports Leader, by Craig Hillier is the ultimate handbook for team leaders and captains. Hillier’s book was edited by Leslie Hatch, and graphically designed by Chris Derrick. It is Copyright 2016 and ISBN is 978-0-9657828-7-6. In addition to writing the book, Hillier also published it. Craig Hillier, is a motivational youth speaker and the author of Playing Beyond the Scoreboard, Bring Your A Game to Work, and How to Step Up as a Teen Leader. As a result, Hillier made his book into a process. He takes the reader through the processs, step by step, to help better their leadership qualities/abiilties. Hillier covers twelve qualities that a “leader” should pertain. They include: being trustworthy, passionate, strong work ethic, resilient, integrity, flexibility, accountability, confidence, communicaton, courage, organization, and caring. Through the use of the text, Hillier transforms the reader into a better leader by the end of the reading. I found a significant amount of the book helpful and realistic. The areas I found most helpful and relateable to my standings were: “Creating Team Chemistry”, “Emerging as a Leader”, “Rebounding from a Loss”, “Demonstrating Sportsmanship”, and “Leaving a Legacy”. From these chapters, I was able to identify areas of leadership I lacked/needed improvement on, how I can make sure my team and I have a significant season, and how I can improve on myself, how I can create a legacy of my own. I believe by doing this, I will be at my best. With its great areas, it also had its bad. I believe the Refusing Drugs and Alcohol chapter is very unrealistic and would not be handled like
