Hillary Clinton and Vice President Joe Biden both recently gave dueling speeches that both focused on transgender rights and praised Americans who have fought for gay rights. Hillary’s plan is to make lesbian, gay, transgender, and bisexual issues central to her presidency. She also plans to do more in order to curb violence against transgender people and urge the military to allow transgender Americans to serve in the armed forces. Mr. Biden believes that transgender rights are “the civil rights issue of our time”.He also stated that he believes transgenders should be allowed to serve in the military. When it comes to the party platform of Gay Marriage, democrats are usually more supportive and do not believe that this issue should divide individuals including the rights of minorities such as transgenders, lesbians, gays, and bisexuals. Party Platforms serve as important routes for elected officials to take once they may come into office. The platform of transgender rights is one that has the potential for a good route to appeal or make as many people as happy as possible and also to achieve greater equality within the United States. I believe that this is one of the main reasons that Mrs. Clinton is making this the central issue of her possible presidency. Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden (who is undecided about whether or not he is running for President) are sticking to the centralized view on this policy of democrats as well in order to bring in as many followers as they can. Staying centralized and cohesive by following the responsible party model of beliefs is one of the most typical ways to gain the most followers when running for office as both of them are doing.
