In the past few weeks of class we talked about so many different religions around the world. The main three we discuss in class were Hinduism, Buddhism, and Christianity. These are three of the major religions in the world that still exist today. I will be focusing on how all three religions started, and I will compare and contrast Hinduism and Buddhism. Then at the end I will discuss on how I feel about the three different religions.

It was founded by a man name Siddhartha Gautana where he was born around 500 BCE in Lumbini. He was born as a prince, and never suffered nor seen suffering before. Until he saw it outside of his palace he started to question himself on why people are living in suffrage. So he went out on a quest to figure out why this is happening. He spent 45 years of his life to find that answer and teaching the dharma. Gautana eventually succeeded in becoming the leader of the Buddhists known by the name of Buddha.
There a beliefs and practices that the Buddhism people follow and believe. Starting with the basic doctrines known as the “Four Noble Truths” of early Buddhism. Also known as the “Noble Eightfold Path” that Buddhist practice. The first thing they do before reaching the enlightenment is “Right View”. Knowing the truth and understanding that the Four Noble Truths are noble and truthful. After that you must free your mind from all evil, and resist the evil with “Right Effort” and “Right Intention”. Following the noble path relieve you mind with having “Right Mindfulness”. Meaning to control your thoughts by practicing concentration on breathing. Connecting with your body with meditation or other modes of meditation known as “Right Concentration”. They also have collection of Buddha’s sermons, teachings, and rules called Tripitaka. Their Four Noble Truths are different from Hinduism talking about suffering. Classifying how life is a process of suffering in the first life, and when you are reborn you made it to the second life. Where knowing the cause of suffering that as happen in your life before. “The way to end suffering in life is to understand what causes it. Craving and ignorance are the two main causes of suffering. People suffer with their craving for the pleasures of the senses and become unsatisfied and disappointed until they can replace their cravings with new ones. People suffer too when they are unable to see the world as it really is and live with illusions about life and fears, hopes, facts and behaviors based on ignorance. Craving and misunderstanding can be solved by developing the mind, thinking carefully and meditating. Solving these main causes of suffering will lead a person to true happiness, just as it did for the Buddha himself 2,500 years ago” (Buddhanet). The last two of the Four Noble Truths are the end of suffering, and the path leading to the end of suffering.
