Two of India’s major religions are Hinduism and Buddhism. Both Hinduism and Buddhism arose in India. Although they both serve as a major religion they both have many similarities and differences. For starters, Hinduism doesn’t have a real founder, and Buddhism was founded by Siddhartha Gautama. These two religions are both great in their own way, and will both evolve as time goes on. Hinduism became India’s major religion that the native Indian and Indo-Aryan religions blended to help develop this great religion. Hinduism was developed through the Brahmin priest explanations of the Vedas, which is another holy text to Hinduism, but had no real founder or formal church. Hinduism was spread through trade routes. Hinduism is a monistic religion, which means the unity of God and creation. Some beliefs that the Hindus have is Maya, Dharma, Karma, and Nirvana. These are the steps in reincarnation. The Hindus had a caste system that was a complex form of social organization which served an important role in reincarnation. A day in the Hindus life includes burning incense and offering prayers; they perform yoga exercises, and rise early to bathe in the Ganges river. Buddhism had a founder and Hinduism did not have a real founder but was developed through the Brahmin priests. They both share the beliefs in reincarnation. Although they both believe in reincarnation they both have different beliefs in how to reach that step of moving on from reincarnation. Buddhists may be reincarnated as many times as it takes to reach Enlightenment and Nirvana.
