I am currently in The Hispanic Business Student Association. This organization has opened many opportunities as a college student. HBSA has provided me with some of the best mentors that have gone beyond to prepare me for my future endeavors. HBSA has given me the confidence to apply to leadership programs, internships, and to begin networking now. It has allowed me to network with many Fortune 500 companies, as well as go on company field trips to get a personal experience with different companies. In additional to the professional aspect of HBSA, HBSA has given me a home away from home. I have made more that just great friends, but a family that I know will always be there for me. They put us on the spot to solve a real world business problem. They brought multiple people from their company though who advised us on how to approach the situation. It was so an incredible experience that I enjoyed. I never considered consulting, but after this event, I wanted to do more. During their presentation, they mentioned their case competition in which they were partnering with Habitat For Humanity to solve a real life problem for them. I felt this would be an incredible experience for me to gain more of an insight in their company and in consulting. I decided to go through with it, and that was one of the best decisions I made. I had done a case competition last semester, but it was nothing like this! First off, it was a same day case competition. Meaning, we received our problem in the morning, and only had a few hours to come up with a viable solution. In usual case competitions, you have a week to prepare. Also, we did not know our group members before that day. In most case competitions, we are able to pick who is in our group, so it was an intriguing experience working with strangers to solve a real world
