If awarded with a Hispanic Heritage Scholarship, I will be able to cover my tuition expenses for a semester without having to sacrifice time to study as I will not need to work full time while attending school. This will help me be much more successful in my classes which will be reflected in my grades. My academic standing is very important to me because I would like to continue my education after completing my bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. My goal is to obtain a master’s degree and then work towards obtaining my teaching credentials so that I may become a math or science instructor. Mr. Reynolds played a very important role in my life and has inspired me to do the same for other students so that they too can achieve the dream. My goal is to become a college instructor in Central Florida to be able to help students in my community adjust to college life and learn the math and science concepts which will be vital to their success in future engineering and science courses. I hope that with my experience, I will be able to help other students in the areas where I was struggling in especially since I was a first-generation Mexican-American student to attend college from my family. I feel that my experience will allow me to relate to other students who have similar backgrounds and face the same challenges as I did. In doing so, I will be able to gain their trust as their professor and help guide them so that they avoid the mistakes I have made and learn from the achievements I have accomplished so that they too can prosper academically.
