Hissong Cattle
Mission and Purpose
My mission is to do things right the first time. Producing quality livestock while keeping expenses down and herd profitability up. I will be trusted by producing reliable products that perform. I will also be versatile and open-minded to new ideas and make a dollar any honest way I can.
About Me
Ever since I was old enough to ride along in the pickup, I have been involved in the cattle industry. My father, Travis, is a veterinarian who got his degree from Kansas State University and my Mom, Abby, is the office manager at his practice. I have one older sister named Alexis who recently finished her bachelors in animal science at K-State as well. I learned a lot about cattle and the industry from helping my Dad throughout the years.
Going on calls with him and working cattle is where I first became passionate about livestock. Ever since, I have worked at two different farming and ranching operations and have gotten to experience how those industries run. Working at these places also allowed me to start my own herd with the help of my dad and sister.

I will continue to gain inventory, herd numbers, knowledge, and capital. I would like to be running roughly 75-100 by this time. At ten years I would like to have purchased a piece of land. Ideally, this piece will be very large, have primarily pasture but a small amount of dry-land crops/hay. I would also prefer a clean slate in terms of facilities, so I can build solely on my preferences. I would like to have the knowledge, equipment, facilities, and financial stability to be my own boss by this time, gaining extra income by working part-time for a ranch or other operation. I would like to be running 100+ head of spring-calving cows with another small herd of 25 fall calving cows. Lastly, I would like to be on track to building a facility where I could feed my own cattle and develop heifers for other
