This study looks at how these barriers affect the success and future opportunities of African American students in Cleveland. The community has shown great strength, despite the racism, and has changed the city's education system. One significant example of community resilience within the community is the role of historically Black schools and educational institutions. Schools such as Central High School and East Technical High School have historically served as centers of excellence within the African American community. These institutions provided not only a proper, fair and long-desired education but also cultural enrichment and social support, helping to create and breed a sense of self for the up and coming generations of African American leaders. The presence of these schools has been a source of pride and has demonstrated the potential for African American students to achieve high levels of academic success when given the proper support and resources. Community organizations have also been very important in supporting education. Organizations such as the Urban League of Greater Cleveland and the NAACP have long advocated for educational equity and provided resources for African American
