FFA is the widely known acronym for the organization Future Farmers of America. FFA is a national organization that reaches from the state of Alaska to the Virgin Islands and from the state of Maine to Hawaii. This organization has numerous opportunities whether it be leadership growth or career success. The organization’s main cause is to help the individual student, providing a path to achieve growth in leadership, as well as community involvement and career success through agricultural education.
FFA is not just for students planning to pursue a degree in agriculture due to its association in premier leadership. The opportunities in FFA include different competitions that students can participate in they are called Leadership Development …show more content…

All of these events help to amplify the quality of leadership in a FFA member and help to get them out of their comfort zone. Another influential opportunity is a summer camp called Leadership Retreat. At this camp include several different ways to help members grow not only as leaders but as people. Forty-two chapters from across the state attended either the west river retreat or the east river retreat. The four day camps are filled with numerous leadership building activities as well as activities that really push campers out of their comfort zone. Summer camps and competitions are not the only opportunities to effect leadership growth. Being a chapter officer is also a huge opportunity when it comes to leadership. This organization plays a huge roll all over the nation through FFA chapters in different communities through community service. FFA does it all, whether it may be simply helping community members, serving food, teaching others, holding events, or raising money. In some chapters around the nation members must complete a set number of hours in community serve to be able to attend different events. A particular event that comes to mind when thinking of community involvement is holding events. The Winner FFA chapter holds two banquets each year that are open for anyone to attend and share a free meal, one banquet to recognize the local sponsors and the other to recognize member’s achievements of the year. Other events that the chapter holds are supervised agricultural experience (SAE) and LDE showcases. While at these showcases members teach community members about their different projects or competitions. This past year the Winner FFA chapter has logged over one thousand hours in fighting local, state, national, and international hunger. The members of this chapter have packaged about ten thousand meals throughout the past two years. The community involvement through this organization is outstanding and widely known. Career success is another attribute of FFA especially with the experiences provided throughout
