100 Years of JROTC 100 years ago in 1916 an amazing program was created sponsored by the United States Armed Forces, Junior Reserved Officers Training Corps, and better known as JROTC. This program “Motivates young people to be better citizens” This program was created to be part of the National Defense Act in 1916. As the US prepared to enter WWI Two levels were created Junior and Senior. Senior ROTC was created for universities and colleges. Junior ROTC was created for high schools. These programs were for males only, later in 1972 Females were allowed to join. The Purpose of JROTC was to teach students secondary educational values of citizenship.
