Soccer, or football as it's known in many countries, is the most popular sport in the world, played by over 200 million people in more than 200 countries. This global phenomenon has a rich history that spans over 150 years, with its rules and regulations evolving over time, and with the game itself becoming more competitive, dynamic and exciting to watch. In fact, the FIFA World Cup is the largest and most-watched sporting event in the world, where teams from different countries compete for the championship title. From the streets of Rio de Janeiro to the suburbs of Tokyo, soccer is a sport that has captured the hearts of millions of fans.

Rules and Regulations

Soccer is played with two teams, each consisting of 11 players, on a rectangular field with a goal on each end. The objective of the game is to score more goals than the opposing team. The game is played in two halves, each lasting 45 minutes, with a 15-minute halftime break.

The ball cannot be touched by the hands or arms, except by the goalkeeper when inside the 18-yard box. Players must use their feet, legs, torso, and head to control and pass the ball to their teammates. Non-contact physical play is allowed, but foul play, such as tripping, shoving, or tackling an opposing player, is penalized with a free kick or a penalty kick, depending on the severity of the offense.
