A History of the World in Six Glasses is an amazing book, that shows the reader just how deep the history of the world is. Standage shows us how these six drink; beer, wine, spirits, coffee, tea, and Coca-Cola influence the world in an unimaginable way. He shows us how beer was used as a religious offering in many civilizations, how drinking wine in the ancient world made you superior, how spirits were used as a trading source, why coffee was believed to be an “antidote” to alcohol, why tea was such an important influence to the British Empire, and how and why Coca-Cola became such a big drink. Every single one of these drinks has an important influence in the history of the world. The Greeks always believed that they were always superior than everyone else. The British have always loved their tea, and the Egyptians have always believed that happiness was a goal in life. The roles of men in all three ethnic groups were superior, although you can say Egyptians treated women better. He didn't really protect the minorities, because they had slaves back then, so he didn't care for minorities.
