Hitachi Corporation is a global organisation, founded in 1910, by Namihei Odaira established in 1920. With headquarters in Tokyo, Japan, Hitachi Corporation currently has 333,150 employees, as of March 2015. (Refer to appendix figure 1) The name “Hitachi” is from the town Namihei Odaira made his first sale. The company name, which means “rising sun”, stayed true as Odaira had rapidly received success as Hitachi expanded operations to meet the demand of Japan’s economy. During world war one, Hitachi was able to acquire a larger customer base, because power companies were unable to meet orders from Germany and had turned to Hitachi.
