1) For the Career Story Interview, I interviewed a Diesel Technician. On O*NET, the interests associated with this career is Realistic and Conventional (“Bus and Truck Mechanics and Diesel Engine Specialists”, 2017). This occupation has a Realistic interest because this inventory is associated with practical, hands-on work. These occupations work with a lot of materials and machines to build and repair. Realistic people often work outside with not a lot of paperwork that deals with what they do.
One of her favorite subjects in school is science; she wants to use her passion
Do you remember in kindergarten when the teacher would ask the class what they wanted to be when they grew up? The answers usually consisted of firemen, doctors, princesses, cowboys, or an astronaut. Then there was always the teacher’s pet who of course said they wanted to be a teacher (typical). Well college is a lot like kindergarten. Your advisor asks you,” what do you want to do with your life after college”, but this time the answers don’t come as easily.
Her interests were both a mixture of science and
During my high school career I have made a consistent effort to stay involved in both my school and community. Through clubs such as Key Club, National Art Honor Society, and National Honor Society I’ve been able to help out locally and globally in an abundance of ways. In Key club and NHS I am able to volunteer in traditional ways, but National Arts Honors Society allows me to contribute to my community and school in a creative way that stimulates people 's minds through art. Due to these activities having a significant impact on my life my future career options are based around what I have learned from them.
My desire to become a civil engineer bloomed in my first trip to Yosemite National Park, where my second grade self was introduced to the beauties of the natural world. There, as I slept in a rugged canvas cabin, living and breathing nature for the first time, nature seeped into my blood. The proximity opened my ears to the minute details, a pollen pod bursting as it reaches the floor, sap glistening as it hardens on bark. Whenever I returned from Yosemite, my senses would be dazed, full of pine and sunlight.
With this in mind, my greatest desire is to receive not only an outstanding technical education but also grow as a conscientious and socially responsible individual. In the next four years, I envision myself in an environment that fosters a genuine sense of family among motivated students. I want to belong to a school where I can develop in character as well as in my Catholic faith, even in the midst of rigorous academic work. I look forward to a career in applied sciences, with one foot in the laboratory and the other in the real world. I daydream about discovering creative avenues for positive change and inspiring others to innovate solutions for the complex challenges of our modern
Other than academics, I have many other interests. After school I spend hours on the court with the Varsity tennis team and inside a studio, I train to become the strongest ballerina I can be. To balance out of stress, I escape myself into designing, volunteering, and experimenting, in the field of environmental
It is natural of people to pursue what has been identified to them as important and what they find interesting. However, it is impossible to know what the future holds and where importance will be placed and interest held in the coming years of the technological revolution. Therefore, there is no guarantee that when a significant amount of jobs are taken over by technology, there will be a rise of jobs in the arts and humanities. If there is no sense of importance or interest in the arts and humanities, there will likely be another solution that will flourish from the circumstances. There is an infinite number of ideas that have yet to be conceived, and one of them may be an concept, philosophy, or invention that may generate new types of careers, letting there be an option other than the arts and humanities for the
I will outline personality theories, views and types and how they affect sports performance, I will also talk about hoe reliable, accurate and valid the theories of personality are. Finally outline theories of motivation and how they could be put into place to create a motivational climate. (P1) Personality is someone’s way of being including mental factors such as the way they think, act and react to various situations. (M1) This is often linked to the traits because different attitudes and behaviour are put into categories from the traits theory.
After starting out my freshman fall semester at Lehigh as an engineer and then changing into the business college during my spring semester, I am still unsure of where exactly I want to be. The Strong Interest Inventory helped reveal my strongest areas and showed me which jobs best suit my interest and personality, but this test alone should not decide what major and job I pursue. I know that I need to experience what a real job is like to find what career best fits me. I cannot learn about what career I will enjoy most simply from taking the Strong Interest Inventory or from studying and taking tests in college, there is much more to finding the right job than just that.
In my opinion I display characteristics of the Enterprising, Conventional, and Social Occupational Themes. I am lead to this opinion by agreement with the descriptions of both Enterprising and Conventional themes. The Strong Interest Inventory Assessment I completed stated Enterprising theme potential skills as “verbal ability, ability to motivate and direct others.” I have been able to motivate and direct others through management, volunteer work, coaching, and many other activities in my life. I enjoy being able to envision, direct, and see an idea or project come together.
Voltaire, a French Philosophe during the Enlightenment, said, “The instruction we find in books is like fire. We fetch it from our neighbors, kindle it at home, communicate it to others, and it becomes the property of all.” Voltaire saw education as a way of empowering individuals and promoting new ideals and values. The Enlightenment was a transformation of culture and intellect in Europe during the 17th and 18th centuries. It brought significant changes to how people of the time lived their lives.

It is important to study something in school that you enjoy but that is also useful in the real world. I have always been asked, “what's your major?”. I would answer art history and always got a response like, “what are you going to do with that?”. Most parents and students don’t feel that there is a good foundation from learning Art History. It is often heard from high school and college students (influenced by their parents) that to succeed you must major in science, technology, engineering, or business.
