Holocaust Survivors Portrayed In Eliezer Wiesel's Night

Many Holocaust survivors, including some of those who came to Houston after WWII, were never held in concentration camps. They survived in hiding, in ghettos, by fleeing into the Soviet Union, or by passing as non-Jews. In “Night”, narrated by Eliezer Wiesel, Elie talks about his experiences as a Jew during the Holocaust. His family is deported from Hungary, brought to Auschwitz, and experiences starvation, abuse, and death. Elie is the only survivor in his family. In The Shadow Of War, by Andrew E. Kramer, talks about the war in Ukraine and how it has completely disrupted normal life for teens. Also surrounding them with violence and putting them in a holding pattern with no forward movement. According to the text, the author states “There's a long road of suffering ahead of you. But don't lose the courage. You've already escaped the gravest danger: selection. So now, muster your strength, and don't lose heart” (Wiesel 41). The evidence above means that Ellie's father gives him strength because his father would give him extra food and starve himself. And he showed Elie that being kind and strong is for the ones who love you. He showed Elie the importance of being strong and fighting during the Holocaust. Definitely the two boys got strength because when there was a big problem that happened in Ukraine then the boys would try to fight themselves from the problem and try to stay alive. According to the text, the author states “The Ukrainians resilience and determination to fight for their own survival is the most amazing thing about what’s happened”(Kramer). The evidence above means the two boys are showing perseverance in the article because they are determined to fight for themselves by tackling issues that are sometimes difficult and they have to try to survive in order to stay alive when all the war is going
