Who is the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is fully God and the third person of the Trinity. “For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.” 1 John 5:7 (KJV) The Bible tells us that the Holy Spirit is the third member of the Godhead and therefore fully God as well. The Bible also refers to the Holy Spirit as the “Spirit of God” and showing Him to be a part of God and having the nature of God.
The Holy Spirit is a person. While some other religions say that the Holy Spirit is just a force or energy in actuality the Bible clearly states that the Holy Spirit is a living being who speaks (Acts 13:2), moves (Genesis 1:2), leads (Romans 8:14), and “breathes” as described in the Hebrew

In John 16:7-11 Jesus says something shocking. He says it is better for us that He leave because if He did not leave then the Holy Spirit would not come to us. This is an amazing statement to me of how extraordinarily important it is for us to have the Holy Spirit in every part of our lives. And right after Jesus says this He tells us that “the Helper...will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment.” There are three things in this passage I would like to draw attention towards. First, Jesus clearly told us that we desperately need the Holy Spirit if it is better for us for Jesus to leave us (in bodily form) than to never receive the Holy Spirit. Second, Jesus calls the Holy Spirit “the Helper” in this passage. Third, Jesus tells us that the Holy Spirit will convict the world of their sins. The conclusion I draw from these things is that we desperately need the conviction of the Holy Spirit. The conviction of the Holy Spirit is to our good or to our “help.” America seems has been a culture that sees conviction and correction extremely negatively yet clearly this verse is telling us that conviction is a wonderfully beneficial thing to us.
