What comes in your mind when someone says Homecoming? Well, for many homecoming is only a party and football game, but there is way more to it, it is the time that is made to celebrate the school you are attending. Many times there is a football game during homecoming, which for some is the most important event of homecoming, some schools do basketball, soccer or hockey games during homecoming. During the week, there is a Spirit Week that embraces a community and school spirit by making each day a different dress up theme, such as celebrity day or Ballers vs. Scholars. The other main event is the party which ends the week and a king and queen are nominated. Before the game there is the Pep Rally, which is a time to reunite the whole school and cheer for their sport teams, at night there is the game, usually happens friday at night. The game is known to be the main attraction because current students play with alumni. This game brings a huge crowd which only stops cheering when they have one, it also brings out school spirit and a feeling of community because it's the time people forget about their problems and cheer for the same cause, victory.
Saturday, the party happens, where the King and Queen are nominated through a vote made earlier during the week and they dance in the middle of everyone. For the party, a boy has to invite a girl to be their homecoming date, which is a big tradition for american schools. Usually the invitation involves a present and a big poster, but that depends on who's asking. The dance starts at 7 p.m and it is not mandatory and only those who want to attend go, because you have to go in a tux and pay for the ticket, and the ticket is not so cheap for a school
