Addiction is a major problem and it has become an even bigger problem among the homeless. Most of the time when people think of the homeless they just think of someone that lives on the streets because they don't have anywhere else to go. But their has to be a reason that they are out on the streets, one of the major reasons of homelessness is addiction. Homelessness is becoming a big problem in our community. Not only are they homeless but most of them are addicts as well. If their was a specific shelter that served as both a shelter and a rehab it would make it possible for the patients to get sober and have a chance at a new life. There are shelters all over licking county but yet there's never enough room to house all of the homeless. With the number of homeless on the rise shelters are going to have to adapt to accommodate larger amounts of people. It would be equipt with rooms for them to stay in during the duration of their rehab. The goal of this shelter would be to put the patients through rehab to get them sober again and then to get them on the road to a new job. With medical professionals to help them through rehab and resources to help them find jobs there should be no reason why they would not be able to succeed in the world. But if they happen to fall back into bad habits the shelter would be their to help them back on their feet. Although this shelter would mainly be for the addicted homeless it would not turn away someone who needs a place to stay so alongside the rehab facility there would also be some rooms that would remain empty for those who truly need it.
