PO Hale stated that, approximately an hour after they responded to the 311 loud noise complaint at 727 DeKalb Avenue, he went to the stationhouse to use the bathroom. Upon entering the stationhouse with PO Ortega, he noticed some of the civilians from 727 DeKalb Avenue next to the T/S operator PO Milton. PO Hale was unsure of how many civilians were near PO Milton; however he noted that there were possibly five civilians. PO Hale was unsure of what the civilians were doing near PO Milton, since he only saw them for a brief moment. PO Hale did not see PO Milton hand any paperwork to the civilians.

We’ve all been down on our luck before, but some are dealt a worse hand than others. Usually in these situations no one is to blame, and yet this mode of thinking doesn’t seem to extend to the homeless: a person becomes homeless due to their poor decisions. But why do we blame homeless people for being homeless? Negative stereotypes regarding homelessness are pervasive in our culture. In today’s society, it is too easy to look down upon those who’ve lost their houses and livelihoods.
The red cross hepl people in a house that was on fire and if they didn’t a lot of people would of died. Kids from boston were dying from diseases and if you send money to the hospital or to the kid who you want to help. Someone in the New York pool went to the deep end and almost drowned but my cousin saved him. One of my friends didn’t have money in her acount to buy a lunch so I gave her some of my food because she was really hungry.
Throughout history bias and tunnel mindedness has been demonstrated by all, whether it be during the holocaust, wars, famous speakers, religion disputes, terrorist attacks and more. Almost everyone, including America, tends to tell their side of the story, like we are always the heros. When in reality it is virtually impossible to be correct 100% of the time. Every individual has a different background and it is our job as educators to take that into consideration as we educate our students. While reading the articles and watching the film, I realized that not all students are fortunate enough to have a stable household and some may not even have a roof over their heads at night. I was in awe by the amount of homeless youth that are out on the streets of Chicago every night. In the film, The Homestretch, it stated that 2,000-3,000 homeless youth were out on the streets every night. It also stated 19,000 students are registered as homeless within Chicago public schools.
Provide suggestions for creating Psychological/Emotional connections that lead to providing services to kids in need. Humans are Irrational Most choices people make are not based on rational analysis of available choices. There is no lack of research that points to the fact that emotions greatly influence and determine our choices. Life experiences create emotions which lead to subconscious preferences.
Youth Homelessness in America Every year, millions of people are experiencing some form of homelessness in the United States alone. Of those people who are experiencing homelessness, a large proportion of them is under the age of 24. Data has found that there are over 550,000 youth have experienced homelessness for more than a week over the course of a year (“Youth and Young Adults,” 2018). In many cases, youth homelessness can be prevented, but the lack of resources and services available to youth is limited. As a result, the issue continues to grow and affect more and more youth have to experience homelessness.
The human body is a machine with a very complicated working mechanism. For a human being to be productive, his body should be in good shape and health. Therefore, health is a major determinant factor in our resourcefulness. All human beings are entitled to good healthcare. In a general perspective, healthcare is all about maintaining one’s health and improving the health of deteriorating bodies.
Homelessness is one the most ignored problems in the United States with citizen and politician. Homeless people are walked by and ignored. Nobody ever thinks that they will be homeless. Due to the economy, people live paycheck to paycheck making house payments very difficult. Most people will want to believe most homeless people are drug addicts or alcoholics, but most people will be surprise to know that it is no all true.
With the prevalence of media’s image of homeless people, everyday Americans have rationalized homeless people as lazy, unmotivated, and “grouchy” individuals. American television shows targeted to young children such as Sesame Street have incorporated stereotypical dialogue regarding homeless individuals such as “grouch”. Furthermore, politicians see homeless people as dead-end citizens that cannot be changed. Overall, the stereotypes regarding homeless people paint a picture of individuals as being hopeless, lazy, and incompetent members of society. The contributing factors for such stereotypes come from historical events that illustrate the origins of homelessness in America.
The homeless problem costs society millions of dollars, predominantly through medical bills. Society assumes homelessness is normally distributed. However, that is not the case. Homelessness follows a power-law distribution, meaning the problem is not concentrated in the middle but rather at one extreme. This distribution pattern is also evident in police violence allegations.
People that are homeless or become homeless today, experience so much they are not sure what to do because they think they do not have help from anyone or somewhere to sleep. Adults are not the only people that become homeless, teenagers become homeless as well because before they turn 18 some will run away from home at least one time. While these people are sitting on the street, they experience numerous things such as abuse from other people, drugs, unemployment or not able to find a job, etc. Everyday when people drive or walk by someone thats is homeless, glancing at their sign reading what it says to make them feel sad for them. However, by doing something small for them makes an impact in someone else’s eyes.
There are many issues regarding the welfare of children from all over the world. Children have been repeatedly impacted by wars and conflicts in their countries. Moreover, many children from some areas do not have access to their rights such as education and health and have to suffer from discrimination, violence, abuse and sexual and economic exploitation. After the World War II, Children from all over Europe had to suffer the aftermath of the war. This is when the United Nations stepped in and created United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund, or as today’s shorter term, United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in December 1946 with the sole purpose to lessen the suffering by providing foods, clothing and health care.
Data and Analysis My main focuses were on the types of people walking about (e.g. I observed homeless people walking with shopping carts), the amount of maintenance (trash piling where trash cans should be), and the surrounding structures. This allowed me to see a general demographic of people and the present economic class . From my observations, the streets are not well-cared for, having uneven pavement and depressions. Graffiti is also a prominent feature and is all over buildings, ATM machines, signposts, parking meters--almost any available flat surface.
