The article “The Myth of Helplessness” by Jay P. Greene, talks about education and how a child social status can affect them. When some people are facing problem they tend to make excuse for themselves. When people are making excuses that is just another way of saying that they are just giving up. When people are from a trough background they sometime have a hard time trying seeing a better future for themselves and believe that they will live the same way they are living now in the future. There are many schools that have problem.
The most common reasons for an individual to become homeless; poverty, drug addictions, alcohol, gambling, becoming divorced, losing a job, the inability to pay rent and bills (The passage, 2015). The homeless people are definitely victims of circumstances, they practice the act of pity,
I think many homeless people are happy to be homeless. Some primary causes of homelessness are lack of affordable housing, unemployment, poverty, and low wages. Homelessness is usually a result of several of complicated issues. First, domestic and family violence is considered to be the most common reason why people become homeless. Domestic and family violence is that one person uses abuse and/or violence to control his/her spouse or other family members through fear (Domestic Violence Prevention Centre, 2016). Therefore, victims prefer to stay outside all day in order to avoid being at home which is considered as nightmare. Second, financial difficulty is another major cause for homelessness.
The social issue that I picked is homelessness. Homelessness is a real issue, even if we don’t always see it. Homelessness doesn’t just mean you don’t have a roof over your head, it means you don’t have food, a good education, a healthy lifestyle, or a warm place to sleep every night. Some people don’t think very highly about homeless people, they think that it's their fault that they are where they are in life. Homelessness is going to end up becoming a bigger problem.

Also people leaving prison or mental health institutions with nowhere to go to on their release/discharge can end up homeless. Services need to ensure that when people are leaving institutional care that they have a place to go. Relationship Causes: This can include an abusive relationship or family breakdown. Either way, one or more people may need to leave the home and may have nowhere to go. Death in a family can also be a cause of homelessness as the person may not be able to afford accommodation on one income.
The Tragedy of the Commons was first illustrated in 1968, by Garrett Hardin, which describes how shared environmental resources are overused and depleted as time passes. The Tragedy of Commons focuses on how individuals decisions and actions can lead to environmental ruin. One example that illustrates the Tragedy of the Commons is the groundwater of Los Angeles and the drought (water conservation). Today, California is experiencing a drought and we are limited to the amount of water we use on a daily basis. The drought has affected California in many different ways, for example, managing the water systems in California, water levels in lakes and reservoirs fall, and streams and river flows diminish.
Homelessness has been an issue that has been of concern in the United States since the beginning of industrialization, which brought forth hundreds upon thousands of people migrating from European countries in the early through the late 1800s. Most of them were families escaping political and religious oppressions from their native land while many others sought to attain financial prosperity as well. However, the influx of immigrants who were seeking new opportunities in developing regions of the United States created overcrowdings in towns resulting in the fewer dwelling for the men, women, and children, to inhabit. The deficiency of inadequate dwellings left many living on the streets and begging for money. Health-related illness began to rise along with poor safety regulation, all of which contributed to physical disabilities and deaths among the men who were the breadwinners.
Not everyone has it easy- lots of people struggle to keep a job, pay rent or a mortgage, and buy food and clothes. In 2015, 564,708 people were homeless in the United States. 564,708 veterans, middle age, young adults, and child had to deal with rotting teeth, greasy hair, torn clothes, sunburns, frostbite, freezing rain, cold snow, hail, diseases, hunger, and so many other problems. With food being so expensive, they don’t have many options. That’s why I work at a food shelter.

Other American cities in the high ranks include Boston, Washington D.C., San Francisco, and Phoenix.
What Causes Homelessness? Homelessness is a significant issue in wealthy countries, as it has no age, race or gender barriers. However, many of the research on that matter focuses on young adults. Usually, homelessness is an outcome of several circumstances occurring at the same time, rather than a single condition.
There are many causes for homelessness, but the biggest reasons include mental illness and incarceration, family and financial struggles, and substance abuse. Contributing factors to homelessness are mental illness and the flawed prison system. In 2010, California prison system
The issue of homelessness is something very near to my heart. I personally have never had to go through the experience of being without a home but a man I was once involved with is in fact homeless. This issue is becoming something that is getting out of hand in my opinion. In January 2014, there were 578,424 people experiencing homelessness in the U.S on any given day or night (Alliance-end homelessness). Just thinking about the sheer number is shocking.
