In life, we are faced with a lot of choices. The poem “Ulysses” is based upon decisions and choices. The choice you pick could be beneficial or it could be one of the worst decisions you have ever made in your life. Responsibility plays a big role when making decisions about life. Whether people notice it or not, the choices that we make today will affect tomorrow. We make decisions that have effects on the people around us and ourselves. That’s why your decisions should be in your best interest because it will affect you later. When you decide on things, you must think about the people around you. You cannot be selfish. I bear the responsibilities that are placed upon me. When the speaker states, “Most blameless is he, centered in the spere of common duties, decent not to fail in office of tenderness, and pay meet adoration to household gods, When I am gone.” Me and Telemachus have a lot of similarities. Anything that is being thrown my way I am ready for. I adapt to anything necessary. One thing about me is that I don’t quit and I take full responsibility of my actions. That is just a part of growing into a man. When I went off to college my responsibilities went to an entire different level. I’m quite a distance from my friends and family which forced me to grow up as soon as possible. I have a different challenge every day and I must make the right decision. When I wake up in the morning, it’s easy for me to skip class and play around but I don’t. It seems like obstacles are always getting in my way and trying to stop me.
