Dear Homework has been a topic of discussion for decades. Some people believe that giving homework can help a student better understand a concept, but there are facts that giving too much homework can cause stress, affect health, and impacts how much time a student is spending with family and development of social skills. Students should receive at most one homework assignment from each class a night and have at most a total average of 2 hours of homework. This would be an advantage for everyone since it will cause all the negatives of homework to decrease. A leading cause of stress for students is homework. According to survey data done by a Stanford college student, 56 percent of the students considered homework a primary source of stress. Less than 1 percent of students said that homework was not a stressor. This demonstrates that a majority of students view homework as something that causes them levels of stress that should not be necessary at their age. Around 24 percent of parents reported that it was an issue, according to the same survey data.
