The most important values in the world are freedom and equality- these rights should be freely given to everyone; however, it does not happen in the world- the discrimination of people with nontraditional orientation still exists. Gays and lesbians, in last 50 years have tried to terminate the discrimination against them based on their sexual orientation. People with nontraditional orientations have tried to change laws, to formulate cases for job discrimination and harassment; also they attempted to educate the public about homosexuality- consequently to eliminate homophobia. Although homosexuals have come a long way toward achieving their goals, they still have much work to do before achieving equal rights as heterosexuals. A nation can …show more content…

In the 1960s a long history of fights existed between homosexuals and heterosexuals. Furthermore, governmental agency, The New York Police was targeting the patrons of gay bars and made arrests. When the patrons of the bar resisted in June 28, 1969, a riot followed that lasted overnight into the next day. Also on April 5, 2016, the Governor of Mississippi Phil Bryant signed a law that “would allow for people to use religion to discriminate LGBT Mississippians at work, at schools, and in their communities” (Human Rights Campaign).
