The sculpture, The Hope Athena, is found in the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. It is located in the Ahmanson Building. The Hope of Athena is the Greek goddess of war and wisdom. The Hope of Athena is from Rome and was copied after a Greek Original in the fifth century B.C. The Hope of Athena is a sculpture made from marble. The Hope of Athena mostly had neutral colors. The parts of the sculpture that did have color was golden brown. There are shadows that create a contrast. The sculpture is missing her both arms. The sculpture had a rectangular body shape. It gave this appearance because of the drapery the sculpture had. The sculpture has the hair in very truly ends that lays down vertically. It only has two medium size strains of hair on each side. The rest of the hair appears to be tied up. I was impressed by the detail the sculpture possessed. Athena outfit appeared to be a long robe. The helmet also gave Athena an appearances of authority which correlates with her being the goddess of wisdom. Her helmet is meaning full to the Romans because it holds a prominent position. It gave the sculpture a powerful look. The Hope of Athena had a symmetrical face. The sculpture gave a graceful appearance. The shape of the head is round. The sculptures eyes are oval shaped with bronze eyelashes that gave the appearance of darkened eyes. The sculpture’s nose seems to be chipped. Both the lower and upper lip are thin.
