Henry Farmer named the piece the paper is analyzing Hope Told a Flattering Tale. The form of the piece is written with an introduction section then, A A’ B C ||: C’:|| P D ||: D’:|| P ||: E: || E’ A’’ P’ B’ ||: C’’:|| F. The introduction of piece is the piano for four measures long. Then both piano and violin start playing, A section, for ten measures long followed by the same A section but with a variation to it and smaller in length being eight measures long. The B section is the violin playing alone for six measures long; then picking up with the piano for the C-section of six measures long. The repetition mainly happens in the relatively fast beats. The range of the piece was relatively large throughout the whole piece. The motion of the piece was conjunct throughout the piece, however there was certain sections that were disconjunct such as sections the piano parts, E, E’ and A’’. Section F starts out with conjunct motion and gradually moves to disconjunct motion towards the end of the section; this was done to end the piece with a grand gesture. The articulation was smooth throughout most sections. However, some sections there was a switch to separate articulation mainly showed in the violin, such as the B is separate and F section ends with separate. The piano sections were separate, as well. The rhythm for most part was split in half the beginning half of the piece the rhythm was slow. A contrast would happen in the piece making the rhythm fast but would return to a slow rhythm in the next section. The piece was tonal it was in a major key throughout the piece. However, there was a change in key in certain aspects of the piece the introduction was in a minor key, as well; when there was a change in tempo for relatively slow, the change in key would happen to. The same occur when the piece had a change of tempo for relatively fast that the key would be changed to major. In the key of major had ascending scales, this was true for minor key sections had a descending
