MORGANTOWN, W.Va.--Despite having a four-run lead after seven innings, the West Virginia University baseball team lost to No. 3 TCU 8-6 in front of a record 3.415 fans at Monongalia County Ballpark on Saturday afternoon. The Mountaineers (20-13, 7-4 Big 12) scored six runs in each of the first four innings on 10 hits. The Horned Frogs (28-6, 9-2 Big 12) rallied with a run in the sixth and five runs in the eighth inning. Michael Grove had another strong outing, tossing seven innings. The sophomore right-hander surrendered two runs on six hits while fanning nine. Kyle Davis and Jimmy Galusky both homered for WVU. Freshman Brandon White tied a career-best three hits. Galusky drove a two-run blast over the left field wall, scoring Braden Zarbnisky. Continuing his dominance, Grove sat down TCU in order in the third. And the Mountaineers followed suite with a two-run bomb from Kyle Davis. However, the Horned Frogs showed why they are one of the nation 's top teams and battled back. With two outs, Luken Baker singled through the left side, knocking in Cam Warner. WVU responded in the bottom half on Darius Hill’s single to left-center drove home Jackson Cramer Evan Skoug 's solo shot to left center pulled TCU within two. In the eighth inning, senior righty Jackson Sigman entered the game with the bases loaded and forced Baker to hit the ball back to the mound for the double play. Head coach Randy Mazey dipped back into the bullpen and freshman Cody Wood gave up a two-run base hit to Nolan Brown, cutting the Horned Frogs deficit to 4-2. A wild pitch made it a one run game and Ryan McDonald issued a two-run double to Connor Wanhannen to give TCU a 7-6 lead.
