Many people say horseback riding isn't a sport, because you just sit there and the horse does all the work. Have you ever tried controlling a 1700 pound animal with only your weight and legs. People say race car driving is a sport but the driver doesn't actually do very much. How can driving a racecar be any different from an ordinary car? It's just faster. The only reason some teams always win is because they have made the car the best that is can be. It has very little to do with the driver. With horse riding it's the other way around. The horse can only be as good as its rider. If you stick a bad rider on a champion horse that's worth thousands of dollars because it is very good at what it does and expect them to win every competition, you're going to be very disappointed. The horse relies on the rider to tell them where to go and how fast. Many horses are being sold because they weren't good enough. Yes, horses do have their limits but no horse is a bad horse. There are only bad riders.
