Since the age of 5, horse riding has been a very important factor in my life. It has impacted me in so many ways, it's almost hard to choose a few to write about. Horses have taught me so much about life and I can't begin to elaborate in the impact they have made on me. Over the years, I've learned that riding horses is similar to performing a dance. Intended to look effortless and beautiful, few people truly understand the time and dedication spent perfecting it. In my 13 years of riding, I have developed an incredible work ethic, applicable both inside and out of the barn. This year, I've been given the opportunity to work with a horse like no other. He’s had years of experience on the show circuit, and it's really given me the chance to grow and improve as an equestrian. Working with such a talented horse has allowed my passion for riding to grow, but has also made me realize that I want to pursue a career in the equine industry. However, this mindset is only a result of the hardships we faced. The first month of our partnership was easily the most difficult month of riding I've ever experienced. I have been a part of this team for four years, and now represent the team as captain. Riding on a team has been an incredible experience for me, and has brought a family aspect to a predominantly individual sport. It is an honor for me to mentor the younger girls on the team and portray a responsible figure in a position of leadership. This position has allowed me to improve my leadership qualities, as well as solidify my passion for teamwork. Being able to share the joy of winning a ribbon with 20 other girls who share my same passion is something utterly rare, and something I am extremely thankful
