Horse Soldiers by Doug Stanton tells the true, declassified story of the Special Forces soldiers who fought for the United States with only a handful of people knowing they were even out of the country. These soldiers helped the Northern Alliance fight the Taliban and Al-Qaeda. Horse Soldiers tells you the story, and goes further into what happened from what the actual soldiers remember.

I enjoyed reading this book for many reasons. Horse Soldiers is action-packed and intense, but is able to tie everything together for everyone to be able to relate to the people who experienced this event. The book tells the true story by emerging you into the fight as it happened. Starting from the 9/11 terror attacks and ending months later, when the Special Forces soldiers come home as heros. Doug Stanton, the author, went into warzones to capture the feeling of Afghanistan. He also went all over, including high-security prisons, to learn from the actual people what happened before writing this book. One downside to this book is the insane amounts of information, which makes the book take a long time to read. …show more content…
