Though in a very different setting Horses at a Fountain also, in my opinion, gives the feeling of respect for man to their companions. In this case the companionship comes from man and horse. Before cars, bikes and public transportation, horses were an important animal for humans as it was used for transportation. The painting illustrates many men allowing their horses to drink from the fountain in which appears to also be used by the people themselves. Allowing an animal to drink from their own water source shows the respect and love that the humans had for the horses thanks to the bond they created not only over the years of owning them, but throughout history as a unforgetful partnership.
