is a story of the king Henry IV and his son Hal(Henry 5) after Richard II was dethroned. The play has a main plot that Percy family's rebellion against the Henry IV and the subplot that deals with prince Hal anh Falstaff. The first Act is introduction that reveals frequent civil wars, the frustration of the crusaders, the dissipated life of Prince Henry and Hal's secretive paln for Falstaff through soliloquy. Also, the conflict between the king and the Percy family who does not hand the captives to the royal family. Especially, emotional characteristics of Hotspur is revealed. Hotspur's lines are very long and frequently breaks in conversations of other characters. This reflects on Shakespear's characteriazation.
The second scene begins with ordinary people's situations in an inn describing the realism of the period. The Prince and his accompanies steal what Falstaff stold before to trick on him and describe the proccess of this suffering a big loss to make humorous senses. Especially, there are two acts of Prince Hal in this Act. Prince Hal is imitating Hotspur to feel every feelings of the world and the other act of Prince Hal is that Prince Hal is preparing for the face-to-face talk with the King Henry IV with Falstaff. It also contains tragedic elements that can found in Romeo and Juliet. However, there is no turmoil or pandemonium because tragedy and comedy are both taken by different characters. Even though the title of the play is , the actual protagonist of this play is Henry V who will be eventually be theking in the future and Hotspur who directly opposes to the Prince. In fact, Hotspur is older than Prince Henry but Shakespear intentionally make their ages same in order to put them into conflictions. Shakespear also match their names as "Henry" and contrast them through lines of Henry
