London most remarkable detective known as Sherlock Holmes and his reliable companion, Dr. Watson, can barely rest from their previous adventure since they are called once again to investigate another complex mystery. However, in The Hound of the Baskervilles by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle the two friends must solve the enigma of the Baskervilles curse which hides behind the superstition of a notorious fiend hound. Consequently, the author excels in this suspenseful yet charming novel when approaching the idea that greed in extreme could drive a human to vanish with even the most benevolent and wealthiest man to acquire monetary satisfaction.

Inevitably, the discovery of other kin aside from Sir Henry lined up specially to the tenacious detective duo. The moment of realization Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson happened after Holmes attention being attracted to the painting of the Baskerville family as it depicted a strong resemblance throughout all family members. To illustrate, Holmes took the scene a presenting Mr. Stapleton's face as presented on the following excerpt from the book “Holmes said little more, but the picture… seemed to have a fascination for him… he[Holmes] curved his arm over the[painting]... The face of Stapleton sprung out of the canvas.”(102-103). Throughout Holmes’ severe observation over the Baskerville family painting he realized the obvious similarity of the Baskervilles and Mr. Stapleton. Forthwith, the revelation of Mr. Stapleton true identity had proved that Holmes and Watson’s theory was correct since if Sir Charles succumbed to his end Mr. Stapleton would theoretically be the next kin and inherits the old man’s money demonstrating that his motive was monetary satisfaction. However, Sir Henry inconvenient appearance was an annoyance to his perfect plan and it become another obstacle in his plan in which he failed to perform
