I was thinking maybe a Fire type to keep himself warm in those Siberian winters, but then I realized he should have a puppy Pokémon to have matched Steve’s Growlithe, so he grew up with a Houndour that evolved into Houndoom. Boom, Fire-type problem solved. It also looks fierce and badass, but is ferociously loyal and loving as well as protective, much like Bucky himself. So that’s one. He probably found it as a Houndour scrounging on the street somewhere in Brooklyn and Steve insisted they didn’t have the resources to care for it, but Bucky gave him the Face™, and he couldn’t resist, so it became his first Pokémon when he was a kid. He managed to sneak Houndour’s Poké Ball to the front with him when he left, but Bucky didn’t want to risk Houndour’s life unnecessarily, so he was rarely let out. The small bear’s fur kept the unconscious young man warm until the Russian scientists found him and Cubchoo then nurtured an interest in what became of Bucky. Later, after he evolved into Beartic, he saw that same young man being maltreated. By means of a violent disturbance, he helped the Winter Soldier break free of the Red Room facility for good and escape into the Siberian wilderness. Incidentally, Beartic is particularly good at “heavy” field work and may often be found back-to-back with Bucky. His name is Isbjorn (“Ice-bear”), often shortened to just simply “‘Bjorn” (“bear”) for field commands. His Ability is Snow Cloak (raises Evasion in snowstorms/Hail) and his moveset is (tentatively) Surf (for travel across water), Slash, Endure and
