These last presidential elections have showed us the highs and lows of the American government. It has opening the minds of the young generation and how the elections work. Now that elections are over new laws and bills will be soon passed. The question I ponder is how does a bill become a law? How does ones idea one day become a law? This essay I will explain the process of how an idea from a group or an individual with a small idea, passes to become a bill then into its final phases a law.

So the first stage into becoming a law is an idea part. An idea is a conception existing in the mind as a result of mental understanding, awareness, or activity (Dictionary). The idea comes from a person like myself (an us citizens), or from a state representative. A state representative is an elected official who researches proposed changes to state laws. This includes modifications to existing laws, as well as new initiatives. Take the same bill we talked about in the earlier paragraph. Joseph Heck goes to other state representatives and talks about the bill hopefully getting support for the bill. (Congress: the peoples Branch) This particular bill (stolen valor act) had, multiple state representatives supporting the bill. The bill is then gets introduced to another committee of state representative which then debate and vote whether they want the bill to become a law.
