Amelia Earhart alone was a girl who painted an amazing picture on following dreams. She was a very strong female who took life’s challenges at the time and turned them into her inspiration. Earhart was the first female pilot to fly a plane solo across the Atlantic Ocean. Due to her disappearance, her life did not get to live on, but her legacy did. She has made an impact on so many different people all around the world because of her bravery, courage, drive, and determination. During her childhood, she faced many problems that most children in today’s time go through. This makes her story even more inspirational, because she did not let her broken home affect her dreams and goals. Her mother, Amy Earhart, and her father, Edwin Earhart faced financial and relationship problems which resulted in their divorce in 1924 (“Amelia Earhart,” 2023). This happened when Amelia was 27. She was pretty much forced into independence and maturity due to her living conditions throughout her childhood. Her and her younger sister were raised by their maternal grandparents. This also took a toll on their lives by having to deal with their parent’s problems and Amelia having to please her grandparents when their thoughts greatly different from Amelia’s. She also had to deal with moving often. There was never a time that the Earharts stayed in one place for an extended amount of time. They moved from state to state when Amelia got a little older. Amelia started learning how to fly in 1921. She was around twelve years old when she saw her first airplane and she started learning about flying around 27 years old. She met female pilot Neta Snook in January 1921 and started learning to fly with her (“Amelia Earhart,” 2023). “American women in all fields have long striven for greater equality with their male counterparts, and women aviators have demonstrated the daring and sense of adventure associated with all who have taken to the skies. Since the birth of the aviation industry, women have competed with men by setting records and pushing the boundaries of flight. In the process, they have inspired countless other women to achieve their dreams” (Dubrulle, 2023). Amelia was bullied due to her love for aviation. She let this inspire her even more. Women’s rights were moving at a very slow pace (Corbett et. al., 2014). She led all women aviators to do what they do and without her aviation would not be as big as it is now. Aviation is a very important concept of transportation. Without it, we would not be able to go to many places and some destinations would be very difficult to get too due to the time it takes to get there.
