Once the BEIC had control over India, they reshaped the government to better suit their needs. For instance, the BEIC required that natives couldn’t serve in “civil administration till they become Christian,” seeing that “no civil or military servant in India rises to a position of real influence or distinction.” (Document 15) Before the BEIC, India’s government was self-sufficient and flourishing. Laws were passed in response to problems that people were encountering, with the well-being of the people as the key objective. The BEIC was not taking into account the natives.
It is not every day that a man of prestige, dignity, and modesty becomes a leader. On April 30, 1789, George Washington was inaugurated in New York City, the country’s current capital, and became the first President of the United States. As the newborn country’s first President, he had nobody’s mistakes to learn from but his very own. Every decision he made would set the path for his future successors. Establishing the first Cabinet, he appointed renowned leaders like Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton who would help him in his decisions that would set the stage for the government of the United States of America.
that having a strong national government would be ideal to protect those areas (Federalist Party).Hamilton strongly believed in this concept and fought for a strong national government that would make the country, as a whole, stronger than if the individual states had all the power. Thomas Jefferson and James Madison were the leaders of the Democratic-Republican party. They believed that the states should stay independent because they did not want to go back into a government they had when they were ruled by the British. The Articles of Confederation was the first “Constitution”. While the Articles of Confederation were in effect, all the “states were independent and they remained sovereign” (Articles of Confederation).
For example, the Han Dynasty had an censorate group of officials who controlled the militia and carried out the law of the emperor to ensure it was the same for all of China this made the people share the amount rights they got, therefore joined them together. Similarly, the Han Dynasty had bureaucracy which mainly had them enforce Confucianism to unify the people. A similar political structure occurred in the Mediterranean in the Roman Empire. During the Pax Romana, a group of male officials called the Senate appointed governors to each province, which made it easier for the emperor to directly rule. This in turn made the citizens unite because it made the system of court more just.
During the Ottoman and Mughal empires the states had strong bonds in many parts of the rule but depending on the empire there was also some big differences in how they handled things such as tolerance to other religions and military. As the empires grew they developed different way of dealing with and accepting other religions. Between the two their tactics for developing military were quite different in the fact of who they enrolled and how members were chosen. They both brought in the traditions of the Steppe from Turkish and Mongol peoples.
The federalist papers was a series of newspaper essays that have become a classic of American political. James wants to redefine the term “Republic”. Power to govern must come from the govern’s citizens. James Madison starts the most popular federalist papers by saying that one of the strongest arguments is the fact that it establishes a government to be able to control the violence and damage caused by fractions which is a group of people who gather together to protect their political opinions and views. Factions will always be a issue to deal with because the citizens will always have different opinions, some own more land than others, and some are more wealthy than others.
The Marāthās, in particular, became so enraged that they eventually gained their independence from the Mughals and established their own empire,” (Gale). The departure of the Marāthās proves the lack of religious tolerance the Mughals had at times. The Marāthās were so enraged at the lack of acceptance that they left the empire rendering it smaller and weaker. This is just one example of the Mughals not only only neglecting to practice religious tolerance, but how refusing to accept all people for their beliefs backfired in the empire’s overall growth and unity.
Why did the founding fathers decide to establish a democratic republic? Did they have anything to benefit from said democracy, or were they actually morally compelled to create a more perfect union to serve and protect all of the citizens of the united states? Although many of the founding fathers have left diaries, articles, and speeches behind for us to dissect and analyze, I believe that there is no better way to learn about a man 's character other than by observing his behavior first hand, and personally questioning him. That is why instead of going to see the Salem witch trials, being at Lincoln 's Gettysburg Address, or even watching the battle Saratoga, I would rather sit in and experience the four long months of debate and argument
In 1776, our union is finally independent from Great Britain. Now that our country is an independent nation, our founding fathers are deciding which government system it is going to rule under. Certainly, our founding fathers did not want this country to be rule under a monarchy system because of the conflicts they faced with Great Britain. The founding fathers all sat together at the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia to create a new kind of government that will have a minimal amount of problems. At first, the founding father created the Articles of Confederation, which is, each state maintains its own sovereignty and all rights to govern, except there were certain rights that were granted to Congress.
Without a strong central government, the states were able to refuse anything the government requested. People thought this would be beneficial, but they were proven wrong. “A strong central government, composed of elected officials, will be acting in the best interest of the people”(Document 3). If the government needed to raise money, they had to ask the states to contribute. If the states refused, the government had no way to collect this money.
To maintain their absolute control over the individual, the Party finds Julia’s breaking point by exploiting her nightmarish fears, and they completely strip Julia of every unique component. Julia is a rebellious soul in the Party’s oppressive society who imbues sex and passion as a way of internal rebellion. By pursuing sex as an individual interest, Julia wants to use her small freedoms to hurt the party as much as possible. After capturing Julia, O’Brien leads the torturous brainwashing, and after completely modifying Julia’s existence, he uses her as an example to break down Winston’s spirit. O’Brien reveals that he destroyed every “endearing” aspect of Julia’s personality.
I believe the Historian utilized the "Governmental Politics" Model due to a couple of major reasons. The first of these reasons is a clear focus on the conservative high-ranking officials’ views regarding an illicit recording of Gorbachev, where he had been discussing the termination of conservative high-ranking officials upon the future signing of the New Union Treaty. By holding this coup the conservative high-ranking officials had intended to secure their jobs within Soviet government, protecting their self interests as opposed to making the most rational decision in regards to the goals of all Conservatives. The second reason is the Historian’s explanation of the coup leadership’s want to gain political legitimacy from low-ranking Soviet
A divided government is a situation in which one party controls the executive branch while another party controls Congress (in general, when separate branches are controlled by different parties). For example, take the executive and legislative branch. Both branches work together, but due to the two different parties, nothing will get done because of their different beliefs. Both parties’ strong ideas gets in the way of anything being done. The trust and confidence in the government declines because people are resentful since nothing is moving forward.
The concept of divided government means that one political party can control the executive branch, the presidency, while another controls the legislative branch, congress. Divided government is primarily caused by voter turnout in presidential elections versus voter turnout in non-presidential elections. Presidential elections have a higher turnout of voters who vote for a single party while non-presidential elections have a significantly low voter turnout. “The majority of voters who turn out to the polls tend to be those who dislike the president 's new policies or are extremely politically engaged. Those who feel just okay about the government aren 't likely to show up at polls” (Rainer Benz).
I think the purpose of government is to make and enforce laws the main purpose of government is to protect it citizen. The purpose of government is to keep strict order and to stop is citizens from hurting one another. An effective system of government protection it citizens. The purpose of government is to ensure the safety of the nation and its resident. While other concerns such as economic growth are important, governments primary duty is keep people save.
