Malcolm X and Martin Luther King Jr. are very outstanding and the most well known African American leaders throughout the history. Black revolution was one of the most important events where African Americans demanded their respects and liberty from whites. Malcolm X and Martin Luther are two important leaders who contributed greatly to this black revolution. Both of them helped to shape what America is today—society that comprised of equal rights for each and every one of the citizens. Same as W.E.B Du Bois and Booker T. Washington, both Malcolm X and Martin Luther have the same goals that they want to achieve for the benefit of African American community, but they have different ways on how they wanted to achieve that goal. Each of them preached two different views and futures for blacks’ politics.

For me, Malcolm X’s philosophy is the alternative method to King’s philosophy. In contrary with King, Malcolm X believes that it is impossible for blacks to achieve equality because the absence of whites’ morality. He also believes that blacks should separate with whites and sustains their own businesses and communities (Painter, 276). Never-ending anti-black violence makes most of the African Americans to question the logic of the nonviolence protests and follow Malcolm’s philosophy (Painter, 318). He adopted Black Nationalist philosophies that emphasize self-respect and self-defense while supporting self-education, black pride and black power (Painter, 277). Malcolm X argued that it was blacks’ right to protect them selves and gain freedom if the government does not want protects blacks.
