Cheerleading a sport known as a girls sport or a gay guy’s sport is a very versatile sport. Made up of stunts, cheers, and tumbling is what cheerleading has become. When it began cheerleading was just cheers/chants that were performed by men at football games, but it is much more complex today and is dominated by girls. Cheerleading has evolved over the years in various ways, from the uniforms to the athletes that participate in the sport, the way the sport is conducted and what it entails to the way it is now performed today.

Cheerleaders usually stand in front of the student section at a college or high school football games. This is where they lead the most enthusiastic section of fans to cheer for the home team. The cheers lead by the cheerleaders to get the crowd incorporated in cheering on the home team are fun and light. The energy created by the cheerleaders and student sections is electric and can spread like a wildfire through the stadium. In cheerleading, athletes learn to trust others, communicate things well, and use a lot of teamwork to produce a great end result. They form a bond with their team that is like the bond of a family. Many cheerleaders make friendships that last a lifetime through the sport. They spend hours on end practicing with people that have become like family to them. Cheerleading produces a trait in athletes to be a leader in their schools and community. Many cheerleaders have traits instilled in them from a young age as being a leader. They are shown leading through their coach's actions and the action of older people that are on their team. Cheerleaders learn discipline with their rigorous schedule and also time management skills. Cheerleader has to build a lot of trust between their teammates. In competitive cheerleading, they do lots of stunting. The flyer in a stunt has to learn to trust her stunt group. She is physically and literally putting her life into the hands of her bases and back spot. One wrong move and that could cost the flyer her ability to walk or even worse her life. In a stunt group they have to make the safety of their flyer the main priority to them while she is in the air.
