Out of all the presidents that dominated the United States, Abraham Lincoln was one of the best known. Lincoln lost the bid to become the Speaker of the House for the Illinois House of Representatives in 1838. It is one of the president’s roles to become the commander-in-chief for the military but Lincoln’s role was very different than others. America was in a war with itself. The Civil War was going on when Abraham Lincoln had to serve as the commander-in-chief. He was very strict and tough on the soldiers making sure they would keep the country safe. Lincoln made the important decision to resupply Fort Sumpter. This decision caused the Civil War to commence. He then had to come up with a complex strategy of war for the Union Army.
