“The best way to predict the future is to create it.” -Abraham Lincoln. Abraham Lincoln was the 16th president of the United States at the time he was shot. Abraham Lincoln was said to be one of the most honest presidents who has ever served our country, that’s where he was given the nickname honest Abe. President Abraham Lincoln was assassinated on April 14, 1865 by John Wilkes Booth. On the morning of April 15, 1865 the United States mourned the tragic death of Abraham Lincoln which changed our country forever.

Abraham Lincoln was born on February 12, 1809 in Hodgenville, Kentucky in a one room log cabin. His parents were Thomas Lincoln and Nancy Hanks, his mother died from milk sickness on October 5, 1818. Abraham Lincoln was elected as Illinois General Assembly four times, in 1854 he was then elected to Illinois legislature but declined the seat in an attempt to become a U.S. Senator. In June, 1858 Lincoln was nominated as Republican Senator from Illinois. On November 6th, 1860 Lincoln was nominated as the 16th president of the United States.
