Out of all the people in the time period we are studying I would say that Abraham Lincoln is the most influential person out of all. Abraham Lincon did many things such as the Emancipation Proclamation, the Gettysburg Address, and he left an wonderful legacy and impact.
One of Lincoln's most greatest contributions was his commitment to abolishing slavery. Lincoln declared that all slaves in Confederate territory were to be set free. By declaring all slaves in Confederate territories as legally free, Lincoln challenged the institution of slavery and set the United States on a path toward the abolition of slavery. To my knowledge the speech was just a few short minutes but, Lincoln captured everyone's attention expressing a vision of a nation dedicated to freedom and equality.
